Used DAF LF180 Specifications Overview
Powertrain and Transmission
The DAF LF180 utilizes a 4.5L PACCAR PX-5 inline-four engine producing 135 kW (184 hp) at 2,300 rpm and 750 Nm torque from 1,100–1,600 rpm. The “downspeeding” approach enables optimal fuel economy and low-rpm cruising with rear axle ratios up to 3.31:1. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 12-speed AS Tronic AMT for fine gear control, and, from 2022, the ZF PowerLine 8-speed fully automatic with torque converter and lock-up clutch. PowerLine delivers uninterrupted torque during shifts and an “Urge to Move” function for precise low-speed maneuvering.
Chassis, Body, and Suspension
The LF180 features a lightweight high-tensile steel chassis with a flat top frame, facilitating ease of body mounting via Body Attachment Modules. Parabolic front springs (3.6–4.0 t rating) are standard; electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS) is optional for rear, ideal for fragile goods and variable dock heights. Wheelbase options extend from 3.05 m to 6.90 m, allowing body lengths over 9 m on a compact footprint, and supporting fuel tanks up to 1,240 L. The steering geometry enables up to 53° wheel angle for excellent urban maneuverability.
Aerodynamics, Cab, and Connectivity
Cab design incorporates aerodynamically optimized deflectors and adjustable roof collars, reducing drag by up to 4%. The steel front bumper and Lexan headlamp covers enhance durability in dense urban environments. Internally, multi-function steering, grouped switches, and DPA (Driver Performance Assistant) support efficiency. The interior received a materials and display upgrade post-2017, while DAF Connect telematics provides real-time tracking and fuel management for fleet optimization.
Active Safety and Equipment
The LF180 standardizes AEBS, ACC, and LDWS (on models >8 t with air suspension). These systems use radar and cameras for emergency braking, adaptive cruise functions, and lane monitoring, enhancing safety in dense distribution settings.
