Powertrain and Driveline

The DAF LF260 is powered by the PACCAR PX-7, a 6.7L inline-six diesel engine featuring Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) block construction. This metallurgical advancement allows for thinner walls and reduced weight, contributing to a dry engine mass of 521 kg. The 260 hp (189 kW) configuration delivers 1,000 Nm of torque from 1,000 to 1,700 rpm, supported by VGT technology for immediate boost and low-end torque. Paired as standard is the ZF PowerLine 8-speed automatic transmission with a hydrodynamic torque converter, enabling seamless, skip-shifting and continuous torque delivery. Parabolic or multi-leaf front suspension is standard, while ECAS governs the air suspension at the rear, maintaining optimal ride height and chassis leveling during loading.

Chassis, Axle, and Braking Systems

The LF260 chassis uses high-yield tensile steel for reduced tare weight across GVWs from 12 to 18 tonnes and GCW up to 28 tonnes. Wheelbases range from 3.0 to 6.90 meters, supporting superstructures over 9 meters and accommodating up to 1,240 liters of fuel in aluminum tanks. Rear axle assemblies vary from 5-tonne SR 5.10 to 13-tonne SR1344 options, with mechanical diff lock availability. Pneumatic braking includes ventilated disc brakes (330 x 34 mm), EBS, ABS, ESP, and AEBS as standard, utilizing Wabco or Knorr callipers. Auxiliary retardation is provided by a 165 kW engine exhaust brake, with the optional ZF Intarder delivering up to 500 kW for extended downhill control.

Cabin Variants and Digitalization

Cab options include Day Cab, Extended Day Cab, and Sleeper Cab with 2,000 x 600 mm bunk, all offering a 2,130 mm interior width. The updated digital dashboard (12-inch display) and multifunction steering wheel—derived from DAF's XG+—enhance operability. The Driver Performance Assistant provides real-time efficiency coaching. Fleet management is supported by PACCAR Connect telematics, offering real-time diagnostics, geofencing, API integration with TMS solutions, and synchronized video telematics.

XB and Zero-Emission Evolution

Since Q4 2023, LF260 has transitioned to the XB/XBC range. XB introduces ADAS technologies in line with GSR II, improved aerodynamics, and further digitalization. The XB Electric variant offers LFP battery packs (141–282 kWh), CCS rapid charging, and up to 350 km range, with nominal outputs of 120 or 190 kW and peak torque up to 3,500 Nm, targeting emission-free urban logistics.
