Used MAN TGS 41.500 Specifications Overview
Engine and Powertrain
The MAN TGS 41.500 is equipped with the D2676 12.4L inline-six engine rated at 500 hp and 2,500 Nm of torque. The Euro 6c update introduced steel pistons, reinforced valve seats, and a top-down cooling system for high thermal efficiency and durability at sustained peak loads. The Common Rail injection system delivers multi-stage events at up to 1,800 bar. Turbocharging is single-stage (wastegate or VTG, depending on variant), ensuring peak torque from 930–1,400 rpm for strong low-speed performance. A Visco-clutch fan and advanced oil cooling enable thermal stability during prolonged high-load, low-speed operation.
Transmission and Driveline
Power is managed through a 12-speed MAN TipMatic AMT based on ZF TraXon hardware, with off-road software logic enabling aggressive shift points, rapid “SpeedShifting,” and drive functions such as Rocking-Free and Idle Speed Driving for low-traction scenarios. Configurations include 8x4, 8x6 (with engageable front axle drive), and full 8x8 with transfer case and inter-axle diff locks. HydroDrive is available on selected 8x4 models, hydraulically driving front wheels to provide traction up to 28 km/h without the payload penalty of mechanical AWD.
Chassis, Suspension, and Axles
The high-tensile steel chassis features pre-drilled modular grids and flat upper rails for optimized body mounting. Hub-reduction axles (AP HPD series) deliver torque multiplication at the wheel, minimizing half-shaft stress and enhancing ground clearance. Suspension configurations include parabolic leaf fronts, trapezoidal multi-leaf or optional heavy-duty Construction Air Suspension (CAS) rears, rated up to 13t per axle. VASC allows electronic load compensation and field-adjustable ride height. Twin-steer front axles use Ackermann geometry with load-sharing linkages.
Braking, Cab, and Vocational Interfaces
The integrated PriTarder water retarder provides up to 620 kW braking—particularly effective at low speeds—and works with engine EVBec compression braking. MAN BrakeMatic blends retarder and service brakes, integrating off-road ABS logic. The TGS cab (2.24m) offers stair-entry steps, narrow A-pillars, and late-model infotainment with color displays. The RIO Box telematics unit and KSM bodybuilder interface allow for cloud connectivity and external equipment control, streamlining integration with specialized vocational bodies.
