Used MAN TGX 26.400 Specifications Overview
Powertrain and Transmission Variants
The MAN TGX 26.400 is defined by its transition between two main engine platforms during 2010–2020. Early models are equipped with the D2066 10.5L inline-six (Euro 5/6), delivering 400 hp (294 kW) and 1,900 Nm torque. From 2019, the D1556 9.0L engine replaced the D2066, maintaining 400 hp and providing 1,800 Nm with a flattened torque curve. The D15 engine introduced a 230 kg weight reduction and utilizes a VTG turbocharger with a simplified SCR-based aftertreatment. Gearbox options evolved from the ZF AS Tronic 12-speed automated manual to the ZF TraXon system (MAN TipMatic Gen 3) offering faster shifts, SmartShifting software and Idle Speed Driving for improved maneuverability.
Chassis, Axle, and Suspension Configurations
The 26.400 is constructed on a high-tensile QSTE 500 TM steel chassis with a flat-top, pre-drilled modular frame for flexible body mounting. Typical axle configurations include 6x2, available as tag, steerable trailing, or mid-lift, and 6x4 for applications demanding maximum traction. The 6x2 layouts feature liftable or electro-hydraulically steered axles to improve maneuverability and reduce tyre wear. Rear ECAS is standard, with options for 2- or 4-bellow systems. Fuel and AdBlue tanks use lightweight aluminum, with combi-packaging and capacities up to 600L (diesel) and 80L (AdBlue).
Cab Options and Interior Features
Three main cab variants are available: XXL (2.1m standing height, up to 200L overhead storage), XLX (fleet standard with high roof and full-size bunk), and XL. Interior updates include a move to high-grade plastics, improved sound insulation, and a repositioned TipMatic gear selector (column stalk on late models). Infotainment advances include the MAN Media Truck system with up to 12.3-inch screens, navigation, and camera integration. The compressor fridge (up to 42L) is integrated under the bunk.
Efficiency and Safety Technologies
The EfficientLine package bundles optimized aerodynamics, APM, GPS-based EfficientCruise, TopTorque, and EfficientRoll. Safety advancements include EBS, EVBec (up to 325 kW), optional Intarder (up to 3,500 Nm), EBA2 with sensor fusion, LGS with acoustic lane warnings, and ACC with Stop & Go functionality.
