PowerShift 3 AMT (non-synchromesh, MPS3) is standard, featuring driving modes including EcoRoll, Rock-Free, Power, and Maneuvering. The 6x2 layout is optimized with liftable and/or steerable trailing or mid-lift axles, and automated traction load transfer via air suspension. Loader and Volumer variants specifically address weight-optimized and height-critical logistics: Loader utilizes lightweight components for maximum payload, while Volumer employs 315/45 R 22.5 tires and low frame height, achieving sub-900 mm fifth-wheel heights for up to 3m internal loading.
Cabin Design and Ergonomics
Seven modular cab options are available, including 2.3m-wide flat-floor units for reduced tare weight, and GigaSpace for maximum volume. The MP5 replaces mirrors with MirrorCam, improving aerodynamics and visibility. The Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 centralizes all controls with dual digital screens, and interior zoning distinctly separates work and rest environments. Cab aerodynamics are enhanced by a 15° windscreen angle and reprofiled front geometry, reducing fuel consumption by up to 3% over previous generations.
Advanced Safety and Digital Systems
Actros 2546 leads with a multi-stage Active Brake Assist (ABA 3 to ABA 6), including radar-camera fusion for pedestrian detection and full emergency stop in urban conditions. Sideguard Assist and MirrorCam minimize blind spots and automate side monitoring. Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) integrates GPS with 3D road mapping for anticipatory shifting and throttle logic. FleetBoard and Truck Data Center provide real-time telematics and remote diagnostics, supporting predictive maintenance and remote software updates.
