Powertrain and Driveline

The Mercedes-Benz Actros 2663 is powered by the OM473 15.6L inline-six, the most robust engine in the Mercedes-Benz portfolio. In 2663 applications, this engine consistently delivers 460 kW (625–630 hp) and 3000 Nm of peak torque at low rpm, engineered specifically for high GCM applications including B-double and multi-trailer road trains. All current models utilize PowerShift AMT, typically with either a 16-speed G280-16 for extreme heavy-haul sectors or the 12-speed G281-12/G330-12 optimized for long-haul performance. High-pressure X-PULSE common rail injection (up to 2100 bar) and Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) are standard, allowing adaptive gear strategies and anticipatory cruise control using GPS and 3D mapping on both motorways and secondary routes.

Cab Variants and Interior Features

Available exclusively on the 2.5 m wide cab platform, the Actros 2663 offers GigaSpace (2.13 m standing height, flat floor), BigSpace (1.99 m, flat floor), and StreamSpace (1.97 m, flat or low engine tunnel) configurations. Options like the SoloStar Concept replace the co-driver seat with a lounge-style rear corner seat for enhanced off-duty comfort. Premium interior features include dual slide-out fridges, innerspring mattresses, microwave pre-wiring, and extensive storage solutions tailored for long-haul operations.

Digitalization and Driver Interface

The MP5 generation introduces the fully digital Multimedia Cockpit, comprising two high-resolution displays—standard 10-inch configurable driver display and a central touch interface, upgradeable to 12.25 inches. MirrorCam, now in its second generation, replaces external side mirrors with aerodynamic camera pods relaying live feeds to 15-inch cab-mounted screens, reducing blind spots and improving low-light and rain visibility. All major vehicle functions integrate via the multifunction steering wheel’s touch controls.

Integrated Safety Systems

The Actros 2663 MP5 leads with ABA5, fusing radar and camera data for pedestrian recognition and autonomous braking up to 50 km/h. Active Drive Assist enables SAE Level 2 semi-automation—combining adaptive cruise (Proximity Control Assist), lane-keeping, and active steering on highways. System integration extends to features like advanced EBS, ESP, and the latest active safety architecture, establishing segment benchmarks for technology and operational safety.
