Powertrain and Transmission

The Mercedes-Benz Antos 2545 is typically powered by the OM 470 10.7L inline-six diesel engine, producing 330–335 kW (449–455 PS) and up to 2200 Nm of torque at around 1100 rpm. Selected units, more commonly in the Actros, feature the larger OM 471 12.8L engine for higher torque reserves. All 2545 models utilize the Mercedes PowerShift 3 12-speed automated manual transmission (models G211-12 or G281-12), with advanced driving programs including “Economy” and “Power.” Later models benefit from “PowerShift Advanced,” offering up to 40% faster upshifts in higher gears and improved driveability in start-stop regional duties. Crawler mode enables smooth, low-speed maneuvering for precise docking and loading operations.

Chassis Configurations and Specialized Variants

The 2545 is delivered in 6x2 configuration as either rigid chassis or tractor unit, with typical rear lift-axle (either mid-lift or tag). Standard suspensions combine front parabolic leaf springs and rear air suspension (“steel-air”), with full air suspension on all axles available optionally. Wheelbases range from 4000 mm to 6100 mm on rigids. The model was available with the “Volumer” variant, featuring a low frame and fifth-wheel height to support up to 3.0 m loading height, optimized for high-cube logistics. Engine tunnel heights vary (170 mm or 320 mm), balancing floor flatness and step count for entry/exit ergonomics.

Cab Options and Driver Environment

All Antos 2545 units use the 2.3 m wide cab in three types: ClassicSpace S-cab (short), ClassicSpace M-cab (medium length with optional fold-down bunk), and CompactSpace M-cab (medium, flat roof for overhead equipment). High-grade seat ergonomics, multi-function steering wheel, and stair-step cab access are standard, with material quality and layout mirroring the larger Actros.

Technology and Safety Features

Key technologies include Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) for map-based gear and speed optimization, and integrated FleetBoard telematics. Safety equipment options feature ABA4 with pedestrian detection, Sideguard Assist (radar blind spot warning), Proximity Control Assist (radar cruise), Lane Keeping Assist, and Attention Assist. These systems cascade from the Actros series, positioning the Antos 2545 among the most technologically advanced distribution trucks of its era.
