Used Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3763 Specifications Overview
Powertrain and Driveline Systems
The Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3763 is built around the OM 473 15.6L inline-six engine, delivering 460 kW (625 hp) and 3,000 Nm of torque, supported by X-Pulse common-rail injection (2,700 bar at nozzle) and turbo-compound technology for energy recovery and low-end torque. A 16-speed G 280-16 PowerShift 3 automated manual transmission provides close ratio steps for precise traction control, with adaptive logic and dedicated Rocking Mode for extraction from soft terrain. The Turbo Retarder Clutch (VIAB) offers wear-free starting and up to 350 kW of retarder braking; with engine braking, total retarding power reaches 720 kW. Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive (HAD), optionally available, provides on-demand front axle drive for short-term traction in demanding off-road scenarios.
Chassis Architecture and Configurations
Arocs 3763 is available in modular configurations, notably in “Grounder” (heavy duty) or “Loader” (payload-optimized) variants. The Grounder utilizes 9mm-thick, high-tensile steel chassis rails, multi-leaf parabolic springs, and planetary hub reduction axles to maximize torsional flexibility and ground clearance. Loader variants feature lightweight air suspension, aluminum tanks, and single-tire trailing axles for maximum payload, suitable for mixer applications. Common axle layouts include 8x4 Tridem, offering steered lift axles to reduce turning circle, especially valued in forestry transport.
Operator Interface and Digitalization
The Arocs 5 generation introduces MirrorCam in place of conventional mirrors, yielding visibility gains and optimized aerodynamics. The Multimedia Cockpit Interactive features dual high-resolution displays for vehicle monitoring and control, with integrated camera support and real-time ADAS feedback. Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) adapts shifting and throttle based on 3D map data, now covering secondary and interurban routes. ABA 5 incorporates camera and radar for full emergency braking, including pedestrian detection.
Cabin Variants and Use Cases
Cab options range from 2.3m ClassicSpace to 2.5m BigSpace, with flat-floor designs and advanced storage. The Arocs 3763 serves high-demand sectors including timber/forestry (with reinforced frames and crane preps), heavy construction (stable 8x4 tippers, pup trailer operation), and semi-SLT heavy haulage (additional cooling tower, heavy-duty fifth wheel, and front push-coupling). Suspension and NVH optimization ensure robustness and comfort for extended off-road operation.
