Used Scania P250 Specifications Overview

Powertrain Evolution and Payload Optimization

The Scania P250 was initially powered by the DC09 9.3L inline-5 engine, producing 250 hp at 1900 rpm and 1250 Nm (Euro 6) with Common Rail injection. In 2018, the New Truck Generation (NTG) shifted to the DC07 6.7L inline-6, delivering 250 hp at 1900 rpm and 1100 Nm of torque while cutting 360 kg from powertrain weight. The DC07, engineered for maximum payload in urban operations, employs a fixed-geometry turbo and Scania’s custom EMS, with a flat torque curve and improved fuel efficiency (up to 10% over DC09). Both engines are optimized for high thermal inertia and low-speed drivability in stop-start city cycles.

Transmission and Driveline Variants

P250 models are predominantly specified with Scania Opticruise AMT, featuring the 12-speed GRS895/GRS905 (PGR) or G760/GRS905 (NTG) gearboxes, enhanced by software modes (Economy, Standard, Power). For specific applications—such as refuse collection or emergency services—Allison 3000 Series fully automatic transmissions are available, providing torque converter launchability and uninterrupted power delivery. Typical axle configuration is 4x2 with the R780 single reduction axle; standard rear ratios include 2.92, 3.08, or 3.42. Suspension setups pair parabolic leaf springs on the front axle with rear 2- or 4-bag air suspension for adaptive ride height and load protection.

Cab Architecture, Ergonomics, and Urban Safety

The NTG P-cab design utilizes high-tensile steels, reduced A-pillar thickness, and a repositioned driver environment for superior direct vision. Engine downsizing enables a lowered engine tunnel by 95mm, supporting semi-flat floor access and cross-cab egress. An optional City Safe Window—heated and integrated into the passenger door—eradicates nearside blind spots, providing direct visibility of pedestrians and cyclists. Cab variants include both standard and extended layouts, with modular dashboards and up to 7" touchscreen infotainment systems tailored to fleet needs.

Advanced Safety Systems and Regulatory Adaptation

Later P250 units (2015+) incorporate AEB, LDW, and camera/radar-based sensor arrays. From 2024, all models include MOIS, BSIS, TPMS, and cybersecurity enhancements compliant with GSR II. The P250 platform thus remains at the forefront of regulatory compliance and operational safety for urban and regional distribution.
