Used Scania P320 Specifications Overview
Engine and Transmission
The Scania P320 is powered exclusively by the DC09 9-litre inline-5 diesel engine, delivering 320 hp (235–239 kW) at 1900 rpm and peak torque of 1600 Nm between 1050 and 1350 rpm. From 2017, the updated Euro 6 variant features SCR-only aftertreatment, fixed geometry turbocharger, a 19.0:1 compression ratio, revised combustion chamber, and thermostat-controlled oil cooling. The engine is approved for HVO and FAME biodiesel. All P320 models utilize Scania’s Opticruise automated manual transmission, mainly the 12-speed GRS895/G25/G33. NTG-era units benefit from a layshaft brake for faster, smoother shifts and an Active Prediction system using GPS topography for predictive gear changes. Later gearboxes offer super-crawler ratios and up to eight reverse gears via planetary design.
Chassis Configurations and Suspension
The P320 is highly modular, available as 4x2, 6x2 (with liftable tag/pusher axles), or 6x4 chassis, serving as both rigid and tractor units. GVW ranges from 18 tonnes (4x2) to 27.5 tonnes (6x2), with GCW configurations up to 44 tonnes. Suspension options include full leaf, full air, or combinations to match distribution, construction, or vocational bodies. NTG models feature a front axle moved 50 mm forward for improved handling and stability. Steering is direct and precise, with advanced chassis geometry for maximum control, even unladen.
Cab Options and Driver Environment
The P-series offers CP14 (short), CP17 (day), and CP20 (sleeper) cabs in Low, Normal, or Highline roof variants. All P320 cabs have a standard-height engine tunnel due to the larger DC09 engine. NTG models introduce thinner A-pillars, a lower dashboard, higher seating, and an optional City Safe Window for enhanced urban visibility. Two-step entry, improved insulation, and optimized dashboards enhance driver comfort, safety, and ergonomics across demanding urban and regional operations.
Special Variants and Applications
The P320 supports distribution, tanker, waste handling, construction, and emergency service roles, with specific adaptations such as crew cabs and hooklift bodies. Hybrid P320 models integrate an electric motor for zero-emission, silent operation in urban environments.
