Engine and Drivetrain

Volvo FH480 is powered by a 12.8L inline-six D13 engine, with Euro 5 models using the D13C (480 hp/2400 Nm) and Euro 6 variants using the D13K. The Euro 6 D13K I-Save version features Turbo Compound (D13TC) technology, delivering 480 hp and up to 2700 Nm of torque available across a broad rev range (900–1250 rpm) for enhanced fuel efficiency and drivability. Advanced Common Rail injection, rear-mounted timing gears, and low-friction wave pistons further improve performance and reduce operating costs.

All models are equipped with Volvo’s 12-speed I-Shift AMT, with options including Dual Clutch for uninterrupted power and crawler gears for startability under high gross combination weights (up to 325 tonnes). I-See predictive cruise integrates GPS topography data for real-time fuel optimization.
