Engine and Driveline

The Volvo FL 250 (2010–2024) features two engine generations. Early models (up to 2013) use the 7.2L D7E inline-six (Euro 5), rated at 240 hp and 920 Nm. Post-facelift units employ Volvo’s in-house 7.7L D8K engine (Euro 6) delivering 250 hp at 2100 rpm and 950 Nm from 900–1700 rpm, offering strong low-end torque for urban stop-start cycles. Transmission options include the I-Sync 6-speed AMT (pre-2013), 8-speed torque-converter automatic 8AP1200 (post-2013), 6-speed Allison automatic, and ZF manual gearboxes. Suspension setups typically use parabolic leaf springs at the front and rear air suspension, enabling chassis height adjustment.
