Powertrain and Transmission

The Volvo FM 420 is powered by a 12.8L inline-six diesel engine, delivering 420 hp and 2100 Nm of torque across all model years (2010–2024). The D13C (Euro 5) and D13A (BS-IV) variants provide peak torque from 1000–1400 rpm, while the latest D13K engine (Euro 6/BS-VI) improves low-end response with maximum torque available from 860 rpm. Common rail injection (up to 2400 bar) and an 18.0:1 compression ratio on the D13K enhance efficiency and driveability.
