Engine and Driveline
Iveco Stralis 560 is powered by the FPT Cursor 13, a 12.9L inline-six engine producing 560 hp and 2,500 Nm torque. Euro 5 models utilize pump-nozzle unit injectors, while Euro 6 versions adopt common-rail injection for enhanced efficiency and control. Standard equipment includes the high-performance Iveco Turbobrake and a choice of transmissions: the 12-speed ZF AS-Tronic (EuroTronic) automatic gearbox was standard until 2016. From Stralis XP (2016), the new 12-speed ZF Hi-Tronix (TraXon-based) transmission offers faster, smoother shifts, improved creep and rocking modes, and predictive driving functions enabled by Hi-Cruise GPS cruise control.
Chassis and Axle Configurations
The Stralis 560 features a high-yield Fe E 490 steel chassis and is available as a tractor or rigid in multiple configurations, including 4x2, 6x2 (mid-lift, twin-steer), 6x4, 8x2, and 8x4. Front axles commonly use steel parabolic leaf springs; rear drive axles are supported by ECAS air suspension with ride height adjustment. Most variants are delivered with fully ventilated disc brakes, EBS, and ABS. Tractor units are often specified with a 6x2 axle layout for higher GCW applications in European markets.
Cabin Options and Features
Flagship versions utilize the 2,500 mm wide Active Space/Hi-Way high-roof sleeper cab, offering a flat floor, high interior volume, and twin bunk layout with a fold-away upper berth. Driver comfort highlights include an air-suspended multi-adjustable ISRI seat (with available heating/ventilation), extensive secure storage, and advanced ergonomic dashboard redesign in Hi-Way models. Special Hi-Life editions add options such as an on-board microwave, TV/DVD, and integrated coffee maker.
Technological Advancements
Stralis XP (2016+) introduced a renewed driveline, optimized auxiliaries, EcoSwitch adjustable output management, and Hi-Cruise predictive control for improved fuel economy. The model retained a SCR-based emissions strategy in Euro 6 variants, with Smart EGR deployed on select later versions for additional combustion optimization. The Stralis 560 legacy is defined by strong torque delivery, robust configuration versatility, and continuous refinement for operational efficiency.
