Variants and Platform Configuration
The Renault Trucks D range is built on a modular platform designed for diverse distribution needs, spanning GVWs from 3.5 to 26 tonnes. Key variants include the standard D (7.5–18 t GVW, 2.1 m cab), D Wide (16–26 t GVW, 2.3 m cab, GCW up to 50 t), D Access (ultra-low-entry, 18–26 t GVW), and D Cab 2 m (3.5–7.5 t GVW, 2.0 m cab). Multiple cab types (Day, Sleeper, Crew, Global) and axle configurations (4x2, 6x2, 4x4) enable extensive customization. Chassis are supplied with pre-drilled side members and comprehensive pre-equipments for rapid body mounting across applications—refrigerated transport, flatbeds, tankers, and waste collection.
Powertrain Options and Transmission
Diesel powertrains include the DTI 5 (5.1 L, 210/240 hp, 800/900 Nm) and DTI 8 (7.7 L, 250/280/320 hp, 950–1200 Nm). The D Wide received the high-efficiency DE11 engine (11 L, 380/430 hp, advanced Wave Piston design) from 2023, delivering up to 10% lower fuel consumption. An optional CNG engine (320 hp) is available for D Wide. Transmission options include the Optidriver AMT for D Wide and 8-speed Optishift automatic for D, both enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing driver fatigue.
Electric Variants and Charging
The E-Tech D (16 t GVW) features a single motor (185 kW, 425 Nm) and up to 565 kWh batteries (range to 560 km). The E-Tech D Wide (19–26 t) uses a dual-motor setup (370 kW, 850 Nm), 200–375 kWh batteries, and drives up to 315 km. Both support 22 kW AC and 150 kW DC charging. The D Wide E-Tech LEC offers a lowered cab and kneeling suspension (entry 200 mm lower; 6x2, steered rear axle) for refuse applications.
Safety, Connectivity, and Ergonomics
All core models integrate AEBS, ACC, LDWS, BirdView 360° camera, and automatic TPMS. The cab emphasizes ergonomics: wide-opening doors, intuitive controls, multiple storage solutions, and LED lighting. The 2023 update introduced new seat materials, refreshed dashboard, and 4G TGW telematics, fully compatible with Optifleet fleet management. Vision Door and advanced mirrors further improve safety in urban environments.
