Powertrain and Driveline
The Renault T380 is equipped with the DTI 11, a 10.8L inline-six diesel engine delivering 380 hp and 1800 Nm of torque. Peak torque is available from 950 to 1400 rpm, supporting efficient long-haul operation. The engine features common-rail injection, a 24-valve DOHC head, and a specialized after-treatment system comprising EGR, DPF, and SCR. The standard transmission is the 12-speed Optidriver automated manual (AT 2412), offering automatic and manual modes controlled from a steering column stalk. A "Fuel Eco" shift strategy is integrated to maximize operational efficiency.
Chassis, Axle Configurations, and Suspension
The T380 features a modular chassis adaptable to a broad scope of applications, with side member options for varying strength requirements. Principal configurations include 4x2 tractors and rigids, as well as 6x2 with non-driven tag or lift axles for increased payload. Suspension choices cover front parabolic leaf/rear air suspension as standard, with options for full air or full leaf setups depending on operational needs.
Cab Variants and Interior Features
Cab options include Day Cab, Night & Day Cab with a compact bunk, Sleeper Cab, and the High Sleeper Cab with a flat floor and maximized space. The interior emphasizes driver ergonomics, with a curved dashboard and advanced storage. Post-2021 Evolution models add a multi-adjustable steering column, push-button start, upgraded bunks, refined storage, integrated USB-C ports, and A4 document drawers. Exterior updates include full-LED headlights and a new grille.
2025 Upgrades and Technology
The 2025 T380 introduces digital rearview mirrors with IR night vision, speed-adaptive power steering, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and standard A+-rated low-rolling-resistance tires. The Optivision+ predictive cruise control uses GPS/topography to optimize shifting and fuel consumption, while Optifleet fleet management supports real-time vehicle and driver monitoring.
