Chassis and Configurability
The Iveco Eurocargo offers a heavy-duty chassis with high-yield-strength steel, parallel side members, and a flat upper surface free of intrusions. This design supports body lengths from 3,845 mm to 10,175 mm and enables over 11,000 factory-configurable variants, including 4x2 and specialized 4x4 models. The 2.1 m narrow cab and a 52° steering angle provide an 11 m turning circle (2,790 mm wheelbase), maximizing urban maneuverability. Cab options comprise MLC day cab, MLL sleeper cab (low/high roof), and MLD crew cab for up to seven occupants. Suspension choices include parabolic, semi-elliptical leaf springs, and ECAS-managed full air suspension (rear or all-axle).
Powertrain and Transmission
Current Eurocargo models use FPT Tector 5 (4.5L, 4-cyl., 160–210 hp) and Tector 7 (6.7L, 6-cyl., 220–320 hp, up to 1,100 Nm) engines. Natural Power (CNG) variants employ Tector 7 units rated up to 280 hp/1,000 Nm, available across 11–19 t GVW chassis with typical ranges up to 400 km. The HI-eSCR after-treatment (SCR-only) minimizes weight and enables passive DPF operation, extended oil change intervals, and increased payload. Transmission options include manual ZF 5/6/9-speed, automated 6- and 12-speed EuroTronic, and Allison automatic for high-demand municipal roles. Additional features comprise EcoRoll and EcoSwitch systems for enhanced fuel efficiency.
Mission-Specific Adaptations
Eurocargo 4x4 models (11.5 t/15 t) feature Tector 7 engines, full-time 4WD with lockable center diff, hub reduction axles, diff locks, heavy-duty suspension, and increased ground clearance. "K" construction variants include reinforced suspension, standard rear diff lock, radiator guard, and PTOs up to 900 Nm. Sweeper variants provide a cleared chassis for body installation, and CNG sweepers are unique in the segment. Municipal models offer short wheelbases, Allison transmissions, cross-cab access, dedicated CAN Open body integration, and Tectyl chassis coating for winter service configurations.
Digital Architecture and Safety
The MY2024 update integrates a full digital instrument cluster and advanced ADAS suite (BSIS, MOIS, DDAW, REV, TPMS, alcohol interlock prep) for enhanced vehicle monitoring and compliance with the latest GSR requirements. Minor exterior updates to grille and deflectors distinguish the latest generation visually.
