Powertrain and Performance

The MAN TGS 26.360 is powered by either the 10.5L D2066 (Euro 4/5) or the 9.0L D1556 (Euro 6) inline-six engine, each rated at 360 hp (265 kW). The D2066 delivers 1800 Nm of torque between 1000–1400 rpm, while the D1556 provides 1700 Nm across the same range. Turbocharging, advanced Common Rail injection, and precise engine management contribute to high torque availability from low rpm. Emissions control systems evolve from EGR and SCR with optional PM-Kat in Euro 5 models to an integrated Euro 6 package with two-stage turbocharging, EGR, SCR, and a closed DPF module.

Transmission and Driveline

Transmission options include a robust 16-speed ZF manual for demanding off-road applications, and the 12-speed MAN TipMatic AMT, featuring SmartShifting and Idle Speed Driving for urban and highway use. Multiple driveline setups are available: the 6x2 configuration offers a liftable/steerable tag axle for reduced tyre wear and optimal payload; the 6x4 variant provides full rear bogie drive with locking differentials and optional hub reduction for superior off-road traction.

Chassis, Suspension, and Cab Configurations

The high-strength frame features a flat top edge and pre-drilled mounting grid, simplifying bodywork integration. Suspension packages include parabolic leaf springs for off-road durability or ECAS-controlled air suspension for ride comfort and axle load optimization. Braking is managed by an EBS platform with ABS/ASR, disc brakes (drum brake options on select tipper models), and an exhaust valve brake; hydraulic retarders are optional. Cab variants—NN (day), TN (single bunk), and TM (medium roof, one or two bunks)—allow task-specific customization for comfort and payload capacity.

Technology, Safety, and Market Adaptability

ADAS features include ESP, LGS, EBA, and ACC, with continuous software and sensor improvements. Notable for robust chassis design, ease of superstructure mounting, and high adaptability across sectors, the TGS 26.360 is recognized for reliable operation, manageable maintenance, and targeted configurations for both vocational and distribution roles.
