Used DAF LF250 Specifications Overview

Paccar Powertrain and Engine Technology

The DAF LF 250 features a 6.7L PACCAR engine, evolving from the GR 184 (Euro 5) to the PX-7 (Euro 6 and later). The GR 184 produces 184 kW (250 hp) and 950–1,050 Nm at 1,200–1,700 rpm, optimized by HPCR injection up to 1,800 bar, supporting multiple injection events for improved combustion, low noise, and high driveability. In Euro 6 guise, the PX-7 introduces a Compacted Graphite Iron block for reduced weight and superior durability—coupled with VGT for a wider torque band. The Euro 6 aftertreatment integrates EGR, DOC, DPF (with active and passive regen), and SCR in a compact side-mounted unit to maintain chassis packaging efficiency.

Transmission and Drivetrain Variants

Initially, the LF 250 was offered with a ZF Ecolite 6-speed manual or the AS Tronic 6/12-speed AMT. The AS Tronic automated manual allowed optimized shifting logic but was characterized by torque interruptions under load. From 2022, the ZF PowerLine 8-speed automatic became available, utilizing a torque converter for seamless, powershift gear changes without torque loss, “urge to move” low-speed functionality, and a wide ratio spread (4.89–0.64) to suit startability and highway downspeeding. Rear axle ratios down to 3.31:1 enable low-rpm, fuel-efficient cruising.

Chassis, Suspension, and Model Configurations

The LF 250's ladder frame uses high-tensile steel (typically 210 x 70 x 6 mm), joined with rivets and bolts for enhanced torsional flexibility. Rear ECAS with 2-bag air suspension is common, allowing manual height control and constant ride level under any payload. The LF 250 covers 12t, 16t, and 19t rigid chassis (FA configurations) with wheel sizes from 17.5" to 19.5", the 19t variant equipped with the SR1344 axle (13t capacity). Aerobody option improves drag and fuel efficiency, while turning circles benefit from a 53° wheel cut.

Cabin, Safety, and Digital Systems

All cabs are 2,130 mm wide with multiple lengths. The 2013 update introduced a digital TFT dashboard with Driver Performance Assistant for real-time efficiency feedback. The “Vision Door” option (from 2017) enhances urban safety with a lower window for curb view. Multifunction steering, integrated TruckPhone, and DAF Connect fleet telematics are available, as well as Body Attachment Module (BAM) for direct CAN-bus integration with specialty bodywork.
