The MAN TGX 28.480 is defined by its 480 hp six-cylinder inline engine, progressing from the D2676 (12.4L) to the latest D30 “PowerLion” (13L) unit in the 2025 model. The D30 delivers torque up to 2,450 Nm in the 480 hp variant and achieves thermal efficiency exceeding 50%. Paired with the optimized MAN TipMatic automated transmission—12-speed in earlier models and upgraded to 14-speed for D30-equipped units—the 28.480 supports advanced features including SmartShifting, Idle Speed Driving, and predictive cruise with the EfficientCruise/EfficientRoll suite. Standard axle configuration is 6x2 with a liftable mid/tag axle, maximizing payload versatility.

Cab Configurations and Ergonomics

Earlier generations offered XL, XLX, and XXL sleeper cabs, with the XXL providing 2,100 mm interior height. The New Truck Generation (2020+) transitioned to the GN, GM, and GX cabs, focusing on driver comfort, optimized ingress (89° door opening, staircase steps), and a digitalized cockpit. Notable is the MAN SmartSelect rotary controller with wrist rest for intuitive infotainment management.
