Powertrain and Engine Technology

The Volvo FM440 is driven by the D13 engine family, an inline six 12.8L diesel powerplant notable for rear-mounted timing gears to optimize cooling. Key evolutions include the D13A with SCR technology for Euro 4/5, the EGR-based D13B for AdBlue-free markets, and the refined D13C for Euro 5/EEV, delivering 440 hp and 2200 Nm torque.
