Scania P230 is defined by its distinctive 9.3L five-cylinder (DC9/DC09 series) platform, delivering 230 hp in a segment typically dominated by 6- or 7-liter inline-sixes. Balance shafts ensure smooth operation, and peak torque is available at low revs, supporting Scania's "low-rev" operating logic. Early Euro 5/EEV variants utilize EGR alone, eliminating AdBlue for select models and maximizing payload, while Euro 6 variants combine EGR and SCR for precise exhaust management. From 2017, the P230 was supplemented or replaced in key applications by the lighter 6.7L DC07 inline-six, offering similar outputs and a 360 kg weight reduction.
